ANTELOPE CANYON, Arizona
The USA is a fantastic tourist destination. Thousands enjoy the amazing iconic sights you see on TV in the major cities and theme parks. But for those looking for something a little different the USA offers a wealth of hidden or not so hidden gems…
In the heart of Arizona, and the soul of the Navajo Nation, Antelope Canyon is in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land east of Page, Arizona.
Naturally amazing and formed over hundreds of years of water running through sandstone. Upper Antelope is at about 4,000 feet elevation, and the canyon walls rise 120 feet above the stream bed. Located within the LeChee Chapter of the Navajo Nation, the canyon’s entrance and entire length are at ground level, requiring no climbing. Beams or shafts of direct sunlight radiate down from openings in the top of the canyon. These beams occur all year long, but are more common in the summer months when the sun is higher in the sky. Truly a sight to behold.
